Thanks, Teddy

Thanks, Teddy, for the Dacks

In case you didn't know, then NY Governor Theodore Roosevelt was a great outdoorsman, and out of passion for woods and wildlife, he dedicated a million acres in upstate NY as the Adirondack National Park. I read a quote of his saying to the effect that the Dacks were so beautiful "They bankrupt the English language" when trying to describe them. One million acres; zero traffic lights. Aaah.

Little did I know that someday I would live across the street from Teddy's birthplace in Manhattan and also live inside the National Park in a little village called Jay (also named for a former Governor).

I recently returned after many years and found the park and small towns surrounding Lake Placid to be as beautiful and breathtaking as I remembered. Even though I have travelled the world, I think Teddy was right about about being broke for words to describe the Adirondacks.

In lieu of words, I'm including some photos from my trip down memory lane. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words, and that's not bad for being bankrupt:>)
